How to Replace the Disc Brake
The mechanical disc brakes on the ebike are a components for your safety. It is important that check the disc brakes perform well before each ride.
ATTENTION: If you cannot install the part correctly, and follow these steps safely, we suggest you find a certified bike mechanic for assembly, maintenance and repair.
Tools&Parts: the new disc brake, needle nose pliers, 5mm Allen wrench
Step:
Front Disc Brake:
1. Clamp the brake cable cap with needle nose pliers and remove it.
2. Loosen the bolt of pressing the brake cable with a 5mm Allen wrench, then remove the brake cable from disc brake.
3. Loosen the bolts of the disc brake caliper with a 5mm Allen wrench, then remove the disc brake.
4. Be careful that when removing the disc brake, the direction should be parallel to the plane of the brake rotor, to prevent scratches on the brake pads and brake rotor.
5. Install the disc brake, put the disc brake into the brake rotor, be careful that the brake rotor is in the middle of the two brake pads.
6. Align the two mounting holes on the disc brake with the two holes of the disc brake caliper.
7. Tighten the bolts of the disc brake caliper with a 5mm Allen wrench.
8. Pass the brake cable through the disc brake in the original direction, put the brake cable cap on the end of the brake cable.
9. Push the brake caliper arm up to the brake cable while pulling the brake cable downward so it is taut. Then tighten the bolt of pressing the brake cable with a 5mm Allen wrench, install the brake cable cap in the end of brake cable and clamp it with needle nose pliers.
Rear Disc Brake:
1. Clamp the brake cable cap with needle nose pliers and remove it.
2. Loosen the bolt of pressing the brake cable with a 5mm Allen wrench, then remove the brake cable from disc brake.
3. Loosen the bolts of the disc brake caliper with a 5mm Allen wrench, then remove the disc brake.
4. Be careful that when removing the disc brake, the direction should be parallel to the plane of the brake rotor, to prevent scratches on the brake pads and brake rotor.
5. Install the disc brake, put the disc brake into the brake rotor, be careful that the brake rotor is in the middle of the two brake pads.
6. Align the two mounting holes on the disc brake with the two holes of the disc brake caliper.
7. Tighten the bolts of the disc brake caliper with a 5mm Allen wrench.
8. Pass the brake cable through the disc brake in the original direction, put the brake cable cap on the end of the brake cable.
9. Push the brake caliper arm up to the brake cable while pulling the brake cable downward so it is taut. Then tighten the bolt of pressing the brake cable with a 5mm Allen wrench, install the brake cable cap in the end of brake cable and clamp it with needle nose pliers.
Inspection:
1. Check that the disc brake is installed securely.
2. Check the disc brake and other parts for interference.
3. Check the brake rotor in the middle of the brake pads and work well.
